MISSION 03/05 · CASE FILE
Field Ops App
A mobile app for a safety and security services company. It gives guards a clear plan for every shift and gives supervisors a live view of patrols, incidents and performance.

01 · CONTEXT
The same standard, every shift
The client is a safety, security and customer service company. Their whole promise is consistency: the same high standard of safety and service, whoever is on shift. That depends on clear performance standards and continuous feedback.
The app had to make that standard easy to follow for guards on the ground, and easy to check for the supervisors who run them, often in high-pressure moments.
02 · MY ROLE
Core flows, UI and prototypes
I designed the core user flows and the interface, built prototypes for testing and worked closely with the product and engineering teams. The aim was a simple, practical app for supervisors and staff.
03 · WHAT IT DOES
Four jobs, one app
PATROLS
A guided plan for every shift
Daily tasks, checkpoints and service expectations, laid out step by step and the same on every shift.
PERFORMANCE
Scores supervisors can stand behind
Supervisors rate staff against predefined standards right in the app, so reviews stay consistent and accountable.
INCIDENTS
Report it step by step
A structured report flow with photo upload, categories and automatic escalation paths.
MESSAGING
Alerts and chat in one place
Messages and alerts live together, so teams can coordinate quickly and lose less time when things get tense.
04 · DESIGN DETAILS
Small decisions for a long shift
HOME
SOS is the first thing on screen
The SOS button sits in the home header next to the guard's name, so it's right there the moment the app opens.
ACTIVITY
Progress you can read at a glance
Home shows checkpoints hit for the site, like 69 of 75, and a patrol score with a progress bar. A guard knows where the shift stands without opening a report.
CURRENT PATROL
One gauge for the patrol in progress
The current patrol shows total and remaining checkpoints, a gauge for checkpoints hit and a single Begin button.
END PATROL
A warning before you leave checkpoints behind
Ending a patrol with checkpoints missed opens a warning that says how many were missed and that it can't be undone, with Cancel next to a red End Patrol.
SCHEDULING
Accept or reject, with a reason
New scheduled patrols arrive as notifications with Accept and Reject. Rejecting asks for a reason, so the supervisor knows why.
REPORTS
Priority and photos on every incident
Each incident shows its priority, date, time and attached photos. A new report takes the location, type, description and a photo you upload or take on the spot.
